Aaron Ochieng cast the portrait of a remorseful man, but what moved was his courage to publicly apologize for dragging his former colleague, Joy Doreen Biira’s name, in the murky theft case involving her KSh2.8 million Mercedes Benz.
“The statement that I made was false in regard to the motor vehicle  KBY 831K, I wish to  state to court and Ms Biira that I lied… I regret the amount of damage that my actions has had on Ms Biira and her family, I do regret my actions and I want to publicly apoligise to Ms Biira  and this court …I wish to  confirm to discuss with Ms Biira the possibility of solving this matter out of court ,” he said, reading from a signed statement.
He said he was remorseful for the embarrassment his claims caused to the young anchor and her family.
Handling stolen property
Ochieng denied two counts of stealing and handling stolen property in January 2017. He was charged with stealing a motor vehicle belonging to  KTN news anchor Joy Doreen Biira. He has been out on bond.
The  Merc was stolen from Standard Group’s parking lot along Mombasa Road on December 23 2016 and  Ochieng  arrested on December 30 2016 in Kisumu and the vehicle recovered from him in Kondele after number plates were allegedly changed.

Biira and  Ochieng, the prosecution confirmed,  have entered into an out of court negotiation whose progress is to be reported in Court on  July 7 2017.
