A Nairobi cab driver who police charge with raping his female passenger has been detained for two days for completion of investigations.

Anthony Kanyari Muya also robbed the passenger who will only be identified as ANU, according to police.

The complainant hired the suspect on July 31 2017 at around 1.00 am in the city’s Pangani area before he made a sudden detour and called in an accomplice whom together they gang-raped her!

The complainant was relieved of clothes, a pair of shoes, a mobile phone, a handbag and cash Ksh31,000, all totaling to Ksh54,800 as per a charge sheet filed at the Milimani Law Courts.

Government chemist

The prosecution was granted two days sought to complete investigations and will be filing a report of sample analysis from the government chemist.

However, the accused through his lawyer told the court that he was arrested and taken to Mbagathi hospital where tests were taken.

The prosecution responded that the accused was indeed taken to Mbagathi hospital but are still waiting for the results.

Taxi make Probox

Court was told that the tests at Mbagathi are not similar to the ones to be carried out by government chemists.

The survivor who is a conductor in Nairobi bus company, Mash, is said to have boarded the taxi registration number KCK 681K make Probox to take her to Pangani, but Kanyari allegedly called in another man.

Kanyari was granted a Ksh2 million bond without an alternative of cash bail.

The matter will be mentioned on August 4 2017.
