A Nairobi court has issued a warrant of arrest against Office of the President director of payments Nicholas Gitumbi Wambugi.

The suspect jumped bail for a second time when he failed to appear before the Chief magistrate to answer to a charge of behaving in a disorderly manner while carrying a firearm.

Firearm holder

Police say Gitumbi was in the company of two women at Rafikiz Lounge on August 10 2017 when he misbehaved in public by firing one live bullet from his gun.

He is a licenced firearms holder.

Gitumbi created the scene after a drinking spree at Rafikiz before police were called in to arrest him.

He is said to have been released on a police bond of Ksh50,000 on agreement that he would attend court on August 11 2017 which he didn’t.

The case file returned to court for a mention of August 25 2017 and Gitumbi was still absent.

His lawyer had initially told the court that he had car problems and would soon be in court but by close of business, the suspect was still not available.

The case will be mentioned on August 29 2017 at the Milimani law courts.
