So this is the Nairobi City County employee who has been fleecing members of the public on the pretext of assisting them acquire single business permits?
Edwin Alwora, a County Monitoring and Evaluation officer, is charged alongside broker Josephat Njoroge in a Nairobi court where he denies conspiring to defraud the county government Ksh5,589,469 by pretending that they were in a position to assist members of the public acquire single business permits, a scam Governor Mike Sonko has relentlessly fought since assuming office.
The suspects were accused of committing the offence on between December 27 2017 and January 2 2018 at the City Hall cash office within Nairobi jointly with others still on the run.
Merged with another
The two also faced multiple charges of conning members of the public.
They obtained Ksh15,000 from Liyakat Ali, the court heard. The two denied the charges.
Alwora and Njoroge’s case will be merged with another already in the court.
A magistrate directed the case be mentioned on February 8 2018 for the merger.
The hearing is set for February 21 2018.
They were released on a cash bail of Ksh400,000 each or a bond of Ksh1,000,000.
