Is vocal human rights lawyer Harun Ndubi being targeted?
Two versions of his drink-driving story have since emerged following the early Sunday evening incident and sent tongues wagging.
Some witnesses say Ndubi was found at the back of his car in a drugged -stupor but on February 12 2018 he was charged him with failing to comply with a verbal warning from a police officer which required that he blow into a breathalyzer on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The incident happened at about 8.30pm along Jakaya Kikwete Road near State House, Nairobi.
He is also charged with causing obstruction, as in, he stopped his Toyota Harrier KCF 820B on the road causing inconvenience to other road users.
Released on bail
Ndubi denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh30,000.
The lawyer is currently representing Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati whose firearm licence was withdrawn in a heatwave targeting outspoken National Resistance Movement members.
Arati is a confessed member of the movement led by National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga.
The case will be heard on February 23 2018.
