THIS man has been posing as a NIS operative and has been conning out unsuspecting victims, police say.
He has been arrested and found in possession of numerous identification cards (IDs) portraying his as a civil servant.
Muigai was charged with obtaining money by false pretenses, impersonation and 18 other counts of counterfeiting identity cards.
In the first count, he is accused of obtaining KSh300,000 from Nicolina Mulama by falsely pretending that he was in a position to process a Kenyan citizenship for her husband, Kelvin Misfield.
The offence was committed on October 24 and 27 2017 at the Nairobi, CBD, jointly with others not in court, police records state.
He faced another count of impersonating a public officer by falsely presenting himself as a National Security Intelligence officer and was in a position to process a citizenship document for the said Misfield.
He had the audacity of making four National Security Intelligence Service Cards (NSIS), a Kenya Bureau of Standard (KEBs) Identification card, six Ethics and Anti-corruption commission (EACC) identity cards, five Immigration Department identity cards and two Office Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) identity cards.
Muigai is accused of forging the IDs in his name on unknown dates with an intent to deceive.
He denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku who granted him a bond of Sh 1 million and one surety of a similar amount or alternative cash bail of Sh 500,000.
The matter will be mentioned on August 17 2018.
