A student joined a list of seven suspects facing charges of conspiracy to steal from Equity bank of a whooping Ksh45 million.

A court was told he was found with part of the loot in his ban account.

Kenya Youth Empowerment Project’s, Stephen Kagiri Karuri, has been charged with  conspiring jointly with others to commit a felony namely stealing of  Ksh45,166,720 .

The offence was committed between November 3 2014 and November 17 2017 at Equity Bank headquarters in Nairobi.

Theft money

Another charge stated that between April 29 2016 and November 17 2017 at Equity Bank Githurai Branch, Nairobi, he stole Ksh 3,162,899 belonging to the financial institution.

He faced a separate charge of handling stolen property.

The p[prosecution said between April 29 2016 and November 17 2017 he received Ksh3,162,899 in his account number 0710167766752 at Equity bank Githurai branch knowing that it was theft money.

Karuri has been released on abond of Ksh 150k pending hearing.
